Murder, Rape, and Kidnapping Charges for Columbus Man in Brutal Attack of 61-Year-Old Woman

Columbus, Ohio – A 36-year-old man, Arthur Scott Jr., is facing charges of murder, rape, and kidnapping after a 61-year-old woman, Li-Chu Lin, was found brutally attacked on Friday night on the city’s North Side. Lin was discovered around 10:25 p.m. inside a room at an extended stay hotel on the 6100 block of Zumstein Drive. Columbus police responded to the scene following an unknown complaint and found Lin with severe injuries indicative of a vicious assault. Tragically, Lin passed away at the scene.

Scott, whose address is listed as a clinic on the West Side of the city, was arrested on Saturday morning in connection with the incident. Police allege that surveillance footage from the hotel showed Scott entering a room shortly before Lin, and leaving without a baseball hat which was later found at the scene. Authorities also stated that evidence at the scene suggested Lin was sexually assaulted.

In court records, police accused Scott of repeatedly striking Lin in the head and kneeling on her neck, leading to her death. Detectives mentioned that Scott confessed to Lin’s death and “other crimes” in an affidavit. Records from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction revealed that Scott was released from prison in October after serving time for abduction in Cuyahoga County.

Scott remains in custody at the Franklin County jail, awaiting his first court appearance scheduled for Monday morning in Franklin County Municipal Court. The community mourns the loss of Li-Chu Lin and awaits further developments in the case as justice is sought for her tragic death.
