Murder Investigation Launched After Man Fatally Shot in West Belfast

BELFAST, Northern Ireland – Police in West Belfast have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man in his home. Kevin Conway was shot multiple times in the Greenan area of the city at around 9:30pm on Tuesday night. Detective Inspector Gina Quinn described the incident as a “horrific, calculated and ruthless murder,” and appealed for information from the public.

Conway, a father, son, and brother, was pronounced dead at the scene. The local community was left in shock by the brutal killing, which took place in a busy residential area. Sinn Féin MP for West Belfast, Paul Maskey, condemned the shooting, emphasizing that there is no place for guns on the streets.

Investigators are urging anyone who was in the Greenan area from 4pm on Tuesday and may have seen something suspicious to come forward. They are especially interested in speaking with anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the area.

The police have asked for the public’s help in providing any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to aid in the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the detectives, quoting reference 1714 of January 9.

The murder has left the community in shock, and the family of the victim deserves justice. The investigation continues as the police work to bring those responsible to justice.
