ALMONT, Mich. — A man has been charged with murder following a workplace shooting that left another man dead at a local business. The incident occurred early on the morning of November 5 at Trims Unlimited, prompting a swift police response.
William Leroy Channer III, 32, was arraigned on multiple charges, including first-degree murder and fleeing police, after allegedly shooting an employee at the establishment. Authorities were dispatched to the business around 8:20 a.m. and found the victim, who later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Following the shooting, Channer reportedly fled the scene, leading police on a pursuit along westbound I-69. His vehicle eventually stopped at Sutton Road, where a confrontation with law enforcement took place. During this encounter, officers discharged their weapons, injuring Channer.
According to police reports, Channer has a history with law enforcement. He is currently on probation for past offenses related to domestic violence, unauthorized computer access, and eavesdropping, as documented by the Michigan Department of Corrections.
