RAY COUNTY, Mo. — A man from Excelsior Springs has been charged with murder following a tragic shooting incident earlier this week in Homestead Village. Glen M. Stice, 55, faces one count of first-degree murder and an additional count of armed criminal action in connection with the death of 43-year-old Daniel Konrardy on Wednesday.
According to court filings in Ray County, the confrontation occurred shortly after noon. Stice reportedly admitted to shooting Konrardy and indicated that the firearm could be found on the table of his porch. He alleged that the altercation began when an object was thrown at him, accidentally hitting his truck instead.
Stice claimed that he was attacked with inappropriate weapons, suggesting that he felt justified in using a .22 caliber pistol in self-defense. Authorities confirmed that they located the weapon as described, resting on the porch table with one round chambered and the magazine empty.
Stice is currently in custody without bond, and his initial court appearance is scheduled for November 17 at 8:45 a.m. This case unfolds in a region frequently navigating issues of gun violence and community safety, drawing attention to the broader implications of such incidents.
As investigators work to piece together the circumstances leading to the shooting, the community grapples with the loss of life and the potential long-term effects on safety in the area. The event has raised questions about conflict resolution and self-defense in similar situations, highlighting the importance of addressing underlying tensions before escalation occurs.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, interviewing witnesses and gathering additional evidence to understand fully the events that transpired. Local residents express a mix of disbelief and concern, hoping for clarity as the legal process moves forward in this troubling case.
