Memorial Day Bloodshed: Three Killed After Domestic Disturbance Call

The victims were found early Monday after a report of a domestic altercation.

MONTICELLO, Ark. — Monticello police are investigating the deaths of three people found with gunshot wounds after an early Monday 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance.

The victims were identified Tuesday as Sherry Brown, McKenzie Lee Asarisi and Keyshawn Laron Daniels. Police said relatives had been notified before the names were released. The department described the case as an alleged double murder-suicide.

Police said dispatchers received the call at about 4 a.m. Monday from a residence in Monticello. Officers who arrived at the scene found three wounded people. Emergency Medical Services responded, but the Drew County coroner pronounced all three dead.

Family members said the people killed were a 19-year-old woman, her grandmother and the woman’s boyfriend. They also said the woman’s great-grandfather was in the house at the time and was not hurt. Officials have not released the ages of all three victims or a detailed relationship among them.

The Monticello Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is handling the investigation. Detectives have not publicly said what led to the shooting, how many shots were fired or whether investigators recovered a firearm. Police said there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The deaths added a heavy scene to the Memorial Day morning in the Drew County city. Officers, medics and the coroner’s office worked at the residence while investigators began the process of notifying families and preserving evidence.

Police had not announced charges, arrests or a public briefing by Tuesday morning. The investigation remained active as detectives continued reviewing the domestic disturbance call and evidence from the home.
