Man Suffers Unprovoked Hammer Attack at Tsuut’ina First Nation Shopping Plaza – Please Donate to Help Him Recover

Calgary, Alberta – A terrifying incident at a shopping center on Tsuut’ina First Nation left a man seriously injured and in need of support from the community as he recovers. The victim, Rifat, was approached by an armed assailant outside a Dollarama store, resulting in a violent attack that left Rifat with severe injuries.

Shortly after filling up his gas tank at a Costco, Rifat went to the nearby Dollarama to pick up a few items for his family. It was there that he was confronted by a man with a gun in one hand and a hammer in the other. The assailant threatened Rifat and demanded that he get into his car, striking him multiple times with the hammer when he tried to retreat.

The brutal attack left Rifat with a fractured skull, internal bleeding, a broken arm, and nerve damage that caused paralysis on the left side of his face. Despite the severity of the attack, the police have yet to apprehend the assailant, leaving Rifat and his family seeking justice and support as he continues to heal.

As a project coordinator who had recently relocated from Toronto to Calgary, Rifat had been in the process of settling into his new life when the attack occurred. The incident has left him unable to work, as he was on a contract with no short-term benefits, posing significant financial challenges for him and his family.

In response to the attack, a fundraising campaign has been launched to support Rifat as he recovers from the traumatic event. The community has come together to provide donations and assistance, demonstrating solidarity and compassion towards Rifat and his family during this difficult time.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the impact of violent crimes on individuals and communities, emphasizing the need for support and advocacy for victims of such incidents. It also underscores the importance of community solidarity and the power of collective action in providing relief and healing for those affected by senseless acts of violence.
