Man Identified as Anthony Lambert Jr. Fatally Shot in West Birmingham Neighborhood

Birmingham, Alabama – Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred in a west Birmingham neighborhood. Anthony Lambert Jr., 21, was found unresponsive in the front yard of a residence on 58th Street. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him dead at the scene.

The shooting took place in the 5700 block of Court I in Ensley, where multiple shots were fired around 4:20 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon. Shot Spotter alerted authorities to gunfire, leading to the discovery of the victim. Officer Truman Fitzgerald mentioned that an argument had transpired between Lambert and one or more suspects, but the details of the dispute were not immediately disclosed.

As detectives and officers investigated the scene, a person of interest in the shooting expressed a desire to surrender through police dispatch. A relative of the individual assisted in facilitating the surrender, which occurred shortly after. At this time, no formal charges have been announced in connection with the incident.

Fitzgerald reported that up to 10 shots were discharged during the altercation, raising concerns about the safety of residents in the area. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed by the gunfire. Witnesses indicated the possibility of multiple shooters involved in the incident.

The death of Anthony Lambert Jr. marks the 42nd homicide in Birmingham this year, contributing to a total of 61 homicides in Jefferson County.
