Man Extradited to Connecticut, Faces Charges in Machete Attack at Bridgeport High School

Bridgeport, Connecticut – A man extradited from Louisiana faced charges in connection with a violent machete attack on a Bridgeport high school campus last summer.

Gerald W. Valle, 22, was apprehended in Pine Prairie, Louisiana, for his alleged involvement in an attack outside Central High School on June 18, 2023.

Upon responding to reports of an assault with a dangerous weapon at the high school, authorities found a 26-year-old man with a severe abdominal wound. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Following investigations by the detective bureau, it was determined that the victim was deliberately targeted by an acquaintance and assaulted with a machete near the baseball field adjacent to John F. Kennedy Stadium.

Valle was transported back to Bridgeport to face charges, including first-degree assault, first-degree criminal attempted assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and third-degree assault. He was held on a $300,000 bond and scheduled for a court appearance at Bridgeport Superior Court.

Acknowledging the efforts of Detective Jose Bahr and the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force in Valle’s arrest, Bridgeport Captain Kevin Gilleran expressed gratitude for their dedication to the case.
