Islamist Mobs Attack Church in Pakistan: Help The Persecuted Steps In to Rebuild

LAHORE, PAKISTAN—A church in the Punjab province of Pakistan recently fell victim to another violent attack by Islamist mobs. The assailants poured caustic chemicals on the church and set it ablaze, leaving the building in ruins. Help The Persecuted immediately stepped in to provide emergency support to the congregation affected by the devastating incident.

The targeted church was connected to a building under construction, which led to a conflict with the owner of the new building. As per field ministry team leader Rashid, the attackers believed that the church was obstructing the progress of the new building, prompting the destructive assault. Rashid and his team have been offering continuous support to churches impacted by last year’s attacks, including facilitating repairs for a fellowship that was able to reopen its doors.

In the face of ongoing persecution, Help The Persecuted remains steadfast in its commitment to stand by believers in Pakistan and other regions facing adversity. Through their efforts of rescue, restoration, and rebuilding, the organization aims to enable the persecuted church to thrive and multiply even in hostile environments.

Help The Persecuted, a charitable organization established in 2018, has been dedicated to providing practical and spiritual aid to suffering Christians since 2011. With a focus on empowering the global Church to flourish amidst trials, the organization’s mission extends beyond the Middle East and North Africa to support believers worldwide.

The recent attack on the church in Punjab serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by religious minorities in Pakistan. Despite the dangers posed by extremist groups, organizations like Help The Persecuted continue to offer hope and assistance to those in need, standing as a beacon of support in times of crisis.
