Injured Woman Rescued After Single-Engine Plane Crash in Colleton County

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. – A woman is in critical condition after a single-engine plane crashed in Colleton County. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when the plane went down on a private property on Wiggins Road.

According to officials, the plane had departed from Beaufort but encountered mechanical issues, forcing it to turn back. The crash took place in a remote rural area about five miles south of ACE Basin Parkway. The property owner witnessed the plane strike several trees before nose-diving into a small pond.

Upon arriving at the scene, the property owner found the woman unconscious with multiple injuries. Emergency crews arrived 15 minutes after the crash and transported the woman to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for treatment.
