The incident, which occurred last week, saw the arrest of a suspect identified as Warren Crayton, 37, by Duluth police on Monday. Following the assault, Crayton allegedly fled the scene at a shopping center following a series of random attacks in the area.
Surveillance footage shared by law enforcement with Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson captured the disturbing event. The video showed an unidentified individual wearing a blue shirt repeatedly kicking the victim before making a swift getaway. The victim, Alfonso Peralta, was working at a car wash at the Shell gas station when the attack took place, resulting in a broken back and stab wounds, according to the police.
In response to the incident, Peralta’s family set up a GoFundMe page to assist with medical expenses and living costs. The family shared details on the page indicating that Peralta sustained severe injuries while attempting to seek refuge inside the gas station as the assailant unleashed a vicious assault. As a result of the attack, Peralta is currently hospitalized, and his road to recovery may involve months of rehabilitation before he can walk again.
Aside from the attack on Peralta, a 16-year-old victim also reported an assault in the vicinity shortly beforehand. The teenager recounted being punched in the face by a stranger outside a local Kroger supermarket, leaving him injured and bewildered. Authorities are still investigating the motives behind these random attacks, with the victims expressing shock and dismay over the unexpected acts of violence.
