Firefighters Respond to Fairfax County House Fire After Initial Reports of Explosion

Fairfax County, Virginia – Fire officials in Virginia responded to a house fire in Annandale early Monday morning, following reports of a possible explosion. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Greg Hunter stated that upon arrival at the scene on Ann Fitz Hugh Drive around 3:45 a.m., there were no signs of an actual explosion despite initial reports.

The blaze presented challenges for the responding crews as it quickly spread to multiple floors of the home, resulting in several collapses inside. To bring the fire under control, a second alarm was called. After a comprehensive search of the residence, the status of the occupants remained unknown.

Fire investigators are now working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Due to lingering hotspots and smoldering fires inside the house, fire and rescue units plan to remain on-site for four to six hours. The investigation continues as officials seek to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As of now, there have been no reported injuries to firefighters during the operation to control the fire. The incident is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The community in the Wakefield area is urged to remain alert and follow any instructions from local authorities in response to the ongoing situation.
