Explosive Investigation Reveals Elk Grove Blasts Caused by Illegal Fireworks

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Authorities in Elk Grove, California, are currently conducting an investigation to identify the individual responsible for setting off two explosions in the area. The incidents occurred at Jones Family Park and Baneberry Court, with both incidents believed to be connected to the same suspect.

Shortly after an explosion was reported inside the Jones Family Park bathroom, another explosion rocked a trash bin at Baneberry Court about 24 hours later. The Elk Grove Police Department revealed that both explosions were caused by “high-grade illegal commercial fireworks.”

Surveillance footage captured a man wearing a black hoodie and plaid or striped pants riding a bicycle in the vicinity of the explosions. Residents in the neighborhood, including Darius Barquero, were startled by the loud blasts and the unexpected vibrations that ensued.

The unsettling events have prompted concerns among residents, with some noticing a heightened level of vigilance and a spike in neighborhood disturbances following the explosions. Mike Derdowsk, a nearby resident, expressed uncertainty if the recent eruptions in the area are linked to the same individual or possible imitators.
