Explosion Risk in Region if Israel Continues Gaza Aggression During Ramadan, Warns Jordan’s FM

Amman, Jordan – Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has issued a warning, stating that if Israel continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip during the upcoming month of Ramadan, it could lead to an explosion in the entire region. Safadi made this statement during a joint press conference with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel in Amman. He emphasized the escalating risk of casualties and the potential for further violence if the current situation persists.

The holy month of Ramadan, which begins around March 10 this year, holds significant importance in the Islamic calendar. Safadi’s concerns stemmed from the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where the humanitarian conditions have deteriorated due to Israel’s military actions. Gabriel, the Bulgarian foreign minister, expressed support for Jordan’s peacekeeping efforts in the region, acknowledging the critical role it plays in promoting stability.

The recent escalation in violence in Gaza started on October 7 when Hamas, the Palestinian resistance movement, launched a historic operation in response to Israel’s oppressive policies towards Palestinians. The conflict has resulted in a significant number of casualties, with thousands of Palestinians, including women and children, losing their lives or sustaining injuries. Additionally, Israel’s intensified blockade of Gaza has worsened living conditions for the population, depriving them of essential resources like water, electricity, fuel, and internet access.

In a landmark decision in January, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel must take immediate actions to prevent genocide in Gaza. The court emphasized the need for Israel to ensure its forces do not commit genocide and to preserve evidence of any alleged acts of genocide. This ruling highlights the gravity of the situation in Gaza and calls for urgent measures to protect the Palestinian population from further harm.

As tensions remain high in the region, the international community continues to monitor the situation closely. Jordan’s efforts to mediate and promote peace in the Middle East have garnered support from various countries, reflecting the importance of diplomatic solutions in resolving conflicts. The upcoming month of Ramadan serves as a critical period for fostering dialogue and pursuing peaceful resolutions to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
