Ex-Boyfriend Charged After Fatal Skyline Chili Stabbing

Court records show Rick Wright was on probation when Alyssa Hill was killed at work.

NORWOOD, Ohio — A Hamilton County judge ordered a 37-year-old man held without bond after prosecutors said he fatally stabbed his former girlfriend Tuesday while she was working at a Skyline Chili restaurant in Norwood.

Rick Wright is charged with murder in the death of Alyssa “Ally” Hill, 27, a server and mother of two. Authorities said the attack happened Tuesday afternoon inside the Montgomery Road restaurant. Hill later died from her injuries, according to court records.

Police and court records identify Wright as the suspect, and the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed he was Hill’s former boyfriend. Prosecutors described Wright in court as an “extraordinary danger to the community” because of the stabbing allegation and his past record.

Friends said Hill had ended the relationship after seeing warning signs. Tessa Lowery, Hill’s childhood best friend, said Hill cared deeply for her children. “She cared about her kids more than life itself,” Lowery said. Friends said Hill had not been with Wright for some time before the attack.

Witnesses and workers called 911 after the stabbing. A woman who was in the drive-thru said people ran from the restaurant and some tried to chase the suspect. Flowers were later placed outside the restaurant, which closed Wednesday as friends, customers and coworkers mourned Hill.

Court records show Wright was convicted in 2025 of misdemeanor assault against a police officer and was ordered to report to probation and receive mental health treatment. Records show he later failed to report, failed to provide an address and did not comply with treatment. A warrant was issued before the Skyline Chili attack.

Wright also has prior convictions that include robbery and drug offenses, according to court records cited by prosecutors. A judge kept him in custody without bond, with a detention hearing set for June 5. It was not immediately clear from available records what further hearings would follow.

Hill’s friends said they want her remembered beyond the violence of her death. They described her as a steady worker, a devoted mother and a friend who encouraged others. The Norwood Skyline planned to reopen Thursday morning as the criminal case moved forward.
