Essex Police Launch Murder Inquiry After Death of Woman in her 60s: Man, 47, in Custody

Chelmsford, Essex – A 47-year-old man is in police custody following a murder inquiry launched by detectives in Chelmsford, Essex, after the death of a woman in her 60s.

According to the police, they received a call about a “suspicious male” at an address in Great Baddow on Friday afternoon. Upon arrival at the scene in Readers Court, officers found a seriously injured woman inside a property. Despite efforts by paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in police custody. DCS Rob Kirby of the Kent and Essex serious crime directorate urged the community not to speculate and assured them that the police are working to establish the facts surrounding the woman’s death.
