Drive-by Shooting in Marigny Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

New Orleans, Louisiana – A fatal shooting incident in the Marigny neighborhood on Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of one man and the injury of two others, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The gunfire erupted from a passing vehicle, hitting three individuals outside A&M food store on Joseph Guillaume Place.

The intended target, a 32-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. In addition, a 64-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy were wounded and taken to the hospital for treatment. The boy, who sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder, was in stable condition by 4 p.m., while the older man was in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to NOPD.

Responding to reports of the shooting at 12:45 p.m., police cordoned off parts of St. Bernard Avenue and Joseph Guillaume Place to conduct investigations. Outside A&M, investigators placed approximately 25 evidence markers as onlookers from the neighborhood observed the unfolding events.

Witnesses informed authorities that the shooter had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Family members of the deceased were present but chose not to provide comments to the media. The police did not disclose further details immediately following the incident.
