Death Penalty Awarded to 15 Convicts in Ranjeet Srinivas Murder Case

Alappuzha, Kerala: The family of BJP leader and lawyer Ranjeet Srinivas expressed their satisfaction with the court’s decision to sentence 15 convicts to death in his murder case. Ranjeet’s wife and mother spoke to the media, expressing their relief that justice was finally served after a long 770-day wait. They described the murder as a heinous crime that had robbed them of the chance to properly bid farewell to their loved one.

Ranjeet, who served as the State secretary of the BJP’s OBC Morcha, was brutally hacked to death at his house in Alappuzha municipality, in front of his mother, wife, and daughter. The court’s verdict brought a sense of closure to the family, as they emphasized that the graveness of their loss could never be understated.

The family also extended their gratitude towards the investigative team and the prosecutor for their diligent work in bringing the perpetrators to justice. The court’s ruling, delivered by Mavelikara Additional District Sessions Court Judge VG Sridevi, emphasized the severity of the crime and deemed the convicts unworthy of mercy.

The assassination of Srinivas was described by BJP Alappuzha district president MV Gopakumar as an unprecedented event in Kerala. The court’s decision to award the death penalty to the 15 convicts sends a strong message against terrorism, according to Gopakumar.

Investigations revealed that Srinivas’ killing was a retaliatory strike in response to the murder of SDPI’s State secretary K S Shan by alleged RSS activists. This cycle of violence and retribution underscores the deep-seated tensions between political factions in the region.

The court’s decision marks a significant moment in the pursuit of justice for Ranjeet Srinivas and sends a stern warning to those who seek to perpetuate political violence. As the family begins to heal from their profound loss, they find solace in the fact that the court recognized the exceptional gravity of the crime, providing a small measure of closure.
