ELGIN, Texas — A tragic multi-vehicle collision late Friday night resulted in the loss of two lives and numerous injuries, prompting a swift response from local emergency services. The incident occurred around 11:55 PM at the intersection of US Highway 290 North and Saratoga Farms Boulevard.
An officer stationed at a nearby gas station quickly arrived on the scene, aiding in the extraction of trapped individuals from their vehicles. The aftermath was chaotic, with two of the involved vehicles engulfed in flames shortly after the crash.
Authorities reported that one victim, identified as 66-year-old Robbie Carter from McDade, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene. As emergency responders worked diligently to transport the injured to hospitals in Austin, a second victim, 13-year-old Yareli Padierna from Elgin, succumbed to her injuries after arrival at the hospital.
