Cotton Stated That The American Left Launched A Conspiracy Of Silence Against The People

In an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who once advocated an aggressive stance toward China in a New York Times op-ed, reacted to a Wall Street Journal report indicating that the Biden administration now acknowledges responsibility for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wall Street Journal published the report containing this information on February 26.  It was based on classified intelligence analysis by the Energy Department, which concluded that the virus likely escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.  The end of the news article indicating that the U.S. Energy Department rated the lab leak theory as “likely” supports what many have long believed.

Although he was accused of conspiracy-mongering, the Arkansas Republican stated that individuals on the left were involved in a “conspiracy of silence.”

Cotton said he believes that what unites both of these moments, pointing out before any of the shutdowns in America that this virus was likely to have originated in a Wuhan lab, not a food market there, or stating that law enforcement or military force should be used to restore order when riders and looters are rampaging through the streets are very closely related.  “The only conspiracy here was a conspiracy of silence among the left in America.” Whether it was the liberal media trying to silence him and others who made these basic points or Democrats like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi accusing them of being racist, nativist, or xenophobic, with MSNBC, CNN, and the rest piling on, and then, you have individuals you know in the administration, such as Anthony Fauci, throwing gasoline to this conspiracy of silence by attempting to stifle all opposition to the party line.

Cotton stated that he wanted to remind everyone that these comments were based on common sense.  That anybody seeing the facts on the ground in Wuhan can conclude that this virus originated from that facility.  Cotton said that the majority of people agreed with what he stated about deploying the national guard or active military if required when local law enforcement was overwhelmed or prevented from performing their duties.  But, when information conflicts with ideological prejudices, the left seeks to crush all opposition.

Republicans vehemently stated that the virus escaped from the Wuhan facility.  Several health specialists and historical media outlets initially dismissed the concept, labeling its proponent’s racists and conspiracists.

Former director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Anthony Fauci, was also accused by some senators of colluding with huge digital companies, such as Facebook and Twitter, to restrict reports concerning the lab leak scenario through a “crackdown on disinformation.”

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Missouri) mentioned in a separate blog post that Fauci was aware that the virus was man-made almost immediately but overlooked it owing to funding for the Wuhan laboratory.  Big Tech silenced anyone who opposed Fauci when he spoke.  Schmitt stated that he exposed this scheme in his capacity as attorney general, and Schmit noted that he would work to ensure that such repression never occurred again.

In the meantime, the Democrats continue to suppress this information.  In reaction to the report, White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan stated on CNN on Sunday that the intelligence community does not yet have a “definitive answer” on the matter.
