Congressional Candidate Harry Dunn Receives Endorsement from Nancy Pelosi for Courage During Capitol Attack

Baltimore, Maryland – Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has extended her support to Harry Dunn, a Democratic candidate vying for the 3rd Congressional District seat in Maryland. Dunn, a former Capitol Police Officer who exhibited bravery during the violent attack on January 6, 2021, has garnered Pelosi’s endorsement for his commitment to defending the Capitol, the Constitution, and democracy.

Having experienced Dunn’s courage firsthand during the insurrection, Pelosi expressed her gratitude for his protection of herself, her staff, and others in the Capitol. With Dunn testifying before the Select Committee to Investigate January 6th, Pelosi highlighted his generosity and steadfastness in sharing his harrowing story from that dark day. Dunn’s memoir, “Standing My Ground,” further illuminates his experiences on January 6.

Born in Baltimore, Pelosi expressed confidence in Dunn’s ability to bring tangible results to the people of Maryland’s 3rd District. Dunn, a 15-year veteran of the U.S. Capitol Police residing in Montgomery County, faces stiff competition in the Democratic primary against 21 opponents, including prominent lawmakers like state Senators Sarah Elfreth and Clarence Lam.

Since joining the race in January, Dunn has shown impressive fundraising prowess, leading the pack with $3.7 million raised and over $2 million spent within three months. In comparison, Elfreth raised $513,109 and Lam raised $283,763 during the same period. Despite facing criticism for not residing in the district he aims to represent, Dunn, a Silver Spring resident with roots in Prince George’s County, remains committed to serving the community he is very familiar with.

Acknowledging Pelosi as a source of inspiration for his campaign, Dunn emphasizes his determination to advocate for working families, safeguard democracy, and build a brighter future for Marylanders. As the primary election approaches on May 14, followed by the general election on November 5, Dunn’s resolve to address pressing challenges and drive progress remains unwavering.
