Boiler explosion in Jaipur chemical factory claims lives of 5 labourers

Jaipur, India – A tragic incident unfolded in the city of Jaipur on Saturday evening when a boiler exploded in a chemical factory in Bassi, claiming the lives of at least five laborers and leaving two others critically injured. The explosion led to a devastating fire that took three hours to be brought under control, with around nine fire engines rushing to the scene to extinguish the flames.

Bassi Assistant Commissioner of Police Mukesh Chaudhary reported that the incident occurred while all seven laborers were on duty, resulting in the death of five workers at the site. The two injured individuals were swiftly taken to Sawai Man Singh Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Immediately responding to the crisis, local authorities, including the ACP, the police station’s team, and Jaipur Collector Prakash Rajpurohit, arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The deceased victims were identified as Krishnalal Gurjar, Manohar, Gokul Harijan, and Hiralal, while the injured were named as Manohar Gurjar and Kaluram.

Dr. Rakesh Jain, principal of the SMS burn ward, provided details on the severity of the injuries sustained by the survivors. Manohar suffered 95% burn wounds and was admitted to the ICU in critical condition, while Kaluram had 65% burns requiring medical treatment.

An investigation was promptly launched by authorities to determine the cause of the boiler explosion and the possible lapses in fire safety measures at the factory. The factory owner, who was reportedly absconding, is also under scrutiny as part of the ongoing probe. The families of the deceased victims have requested compensation and job opportunities for their relatives.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed his condolences to the bereaved families, emphasizing the need for swift relief and rescue efforts. He acknowledged the tragic loss of life in the factory accident and urged authorities to provide all necessary assistance to those affected by the incident. The Chief Minister’s message conveyed prayers for the departed souls and wished for a speedy recovery for the injured individuals.
