Baton Rouge: Teen Dead, Four Injured in Drive-By Shooting Spree

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana: The new year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, began with a series of shooting incidents resulting in the injury of a teenager and four other individuals. Police reported a drive-by shooting where the shooter(s) drove through multiple blocks and streets in the city.

One of the victims, 15-year-old Ramide Cosey, tragically died at the scene, while the three other young victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The shootings occurred before 2 p.m. on January 1, 2024, near West Brookstown Dr. and Evangeline St.

Following the incident, it was revealed that Cosey and two other individuals were shot on Evangeline St., while another teenager was also injured on Victory Dr., which is just one block away. Additionally, an adult was shot and injured on Linden St., with all three scenes occurring within a mile’s distance of each other.

In total, five people were shot, with four of them being transported to a hospital in stable condition, and unfortunately, one person succumbing to their injuries. As of now, no further details have been released regarding the motives behind the drive-by shooting or whether any arrests have been made.
