Houston, Texas – A tragic incident unfolded outside a McDonald’s in west Houston over the weekend, leading to the fatal shooting of a Texas attorney as he attempted to diffuse a situation with an irate customer dissatisfied with his order. The victim, identified as 46-year-old Jeffrey Limmer, was shot and killed in the confrontation, according to detectives from the Houston Police Department. The incident took place at 8147 Katy Freeway on Saturday evening at approximately 6 p.m.
Reportedly, the customer in question became agitated with the McDonald’s employees over his order and demanded a refund. Limmer intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, but the customer turned his anger towards Limmer. A physical altercation ensued, eventually spilling outside the restaurant. The customer retaliated by shooting Limmer, before fleeing the scene in a blue Ford pickup truck from the early 2000s.
Limmer’s sister, Jennifer Thomas, shared with ABC13 that their parents received the devastating news of their son’s passing while attending their granddaughter’s graduation. Describing Limmer as a loving and jovial individual, Thomas highlighted his strong sense of family and dedication to making a positive impact on others. Limmer was a former athlete, having played football and baseball during his time at Memorial High School in Houston.
A graduate of the University of Texas and South Texas College of Law, Limmer worked as an associate at a law firm in the Houston area. Described as someone who always sought to stand up for what was right, Limmer was known for his compassionate and level-headed nature in handling difficult situations. Thomas expressed pride in her brother’s actions, emphasizing that he was a good Samaritan who believed in doing the right thing.
As authorities continue to search for the shooter, Limmer’s family awaits justice for their loved one.
