CHELMSFORD, ENGLAND – A 71-year-old man in Chelmsford, England, was sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting to murder his son-in-law in a horrific attack witnessed by his three-year-old daughter. Chacko Abraham Thenakarayil was found guilty of attempted murder after striking his son-in-law with a meat cleaver at their family home on May 6 last year.
According to court records from Chelmsford Crown Court, the victim was seated at the dining table with his young daughter when Thenakarayil approached him from behind, attacking him with the cleaver. Despite being injured, the son-in-law was able to defend himself and escape the vicious assault, eventually seeking help from neighbors.
After fleeing the house, the victim was rushed to the hospital where he received treatment for serious injuries, including a skull fracture and significant blood loss.
