Middlesbrough, United Kingdom – A rapist in Teesside has been convicted and sentenced to 12 years in prison after a horrifying attack on a teenage girl in Whitby. Dwayne Anthony Rhoden, 34, was found guilty of multiple offenses, including rape, sexual assault, and false imprisonment.

The investigation was initiated after a friend of the victim made a 999 call to North Yorkshire Police, detailing the assault that took place at a Whitby address last year.
According to DC Edwards, the victim was lured to Rhoden’s rented bedsit, where she was violently attacked and threatened with death. Despite the harrowing ordeal, the teenager managed to escape after an hour and seek help from friends who contacted the authorities. Rhoden was arrested, charged with multiple offenses, and sentenced at York Crown Court.
In addition to the prison term, Rhoden was also placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. DC Edwards emphasized the victim’s courage throughout the investigation and court proceedings, highlighting the importance of holding offenders like Rhoden accountable for their heinous actions.
