Rupahihat, Nagaon district, India – An alarming incident unfolded in Rupahihat, Nagaon district, where Congress MP Rakibul Hussain was viciously attacked by a group of masked individuals, sparking a political uproar. The attack, captured on video, has raised accusations against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for allegedly orchestrating the assault.
The assault took place as Hussain and his son were traveling on a two-wheeler to attend a party meeting when masked assailants armed with cricket bats and sticks ambushed them, leaving Hussain injured on the ground. Despite efforts by his personal security officers to protect him, they were overpowered, leading to further chaos as the attackers damaged his vehicle and fled the scene.
In response to the attack, Hussain publicly blamed Chief Minister Sarma, labeling the incident as a politically motivated act and calling for Sarma’s resignation due to a failure in maintaining law and order. He expressed frustration with the lack of security measures and criticized the state of lawlessness in Assam under Sarma’s leadership.
The Congress party condemned the assault, connecting it to the upcoming Assembly elections and accusing the BJP of resorting to violence out of desperation. Assam Congress president, Bhupen Kumar Borah, emphasized the importance of upholding democracy without the use of force, demanding the immediate arrest of the attackers to prevent further incidents of political violence.

These groups have called for stringent action against those responsible for the attack and urged the government to intervene to prevent any escalation of violence as tensions mount ahead of the elections.
