Attack at Gwinnett County Gas Station Leaves Man with Broken Back and Stab Wounds

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Following a violent incident at a gas station in Gwinnett County, a man was left with a broken back and stab wounds, as reported by his family.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Warren Crayton, was apprehended by Duluth police on Monday for randomly attacking two individuals at a shopping center in the same area the previous week.

One of the victims, Alfonso Peralta, was assaulted by Crayton while working at a car wash located near the Shell gas station, according to Duluth police.

Surveillance footage of the attack showed the unidentified suspect, dressed in a blue shirt, repeatedly kicking Peralta before fleeing the scene. The brutal assault resulted in Peralta suffering a broken back, police confirmed.

In response to the incident, the victim’s family launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with covering medical expenses and living costs. According to the description on the fundraising page, Peralta also sustained stab wounds during the attack.

Following the assailant’s approach towards a group at the car wash, Peralta sought refuge inside the gas station. The family described the attack as “merciless,” causing severe injuries that have left Peralta unable to walk without assistance.

Peralta remains hospitalized, with the prospect of regaining his ability to walk estimated to be months away. Additionally, another victim, a 16-year-old, reported being assaulted by a stranger outside a Kroger store prior to Peralta’s attack.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the attacks, as both victims expressed shock and bewilderment at the unexpected violence they experienced.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of these incidents, the victims and their families are left seeking answers and support during this challenging time.
