Venice, California – A woman recovering from a brutal attack in the Venice Canals area is bravely speaking out from her hospital bed about her harrowing experience. Mary Klein is currently recuperating from an assault on April 6 that left her face severely bruised and her jaw wired shut. Klein revealed that her attacker had attempted to take her life by knocking out her two front teeth.
The victim recounted that she was on an evening walk, part of her usual routine after work, when she was suddenly and violently knocked to the ground. She described the impact of the attack as feeling similar to being hit by a truck, despite not fully registering the events at the time. Klein admitted to losing consciousness almost immediately after the assault and only realizing the severity of her injuries after waking up the next day and going to work.
Following Klein’s assault, another woman was also attacked in the same area. The Los Angeles police apprehended 29-year-old Anthony Jones shortly after the incidents, identifying him as the perpetrator. Authorities believe that both attacks were random, sparking concerns about safety in the community.
Los Angeles City Councilwoman, Traci Park, expressed frustration over the assaults, emphasizing the importance of creating safer environments for residents and visitors. In response to the incidents, Park called for increased measures to protect individuals walking in neighborhoods throughout the city, especially in popular tourist destinations like Venice.

Family members of Klein have launched an online fundraiser to assist with covering her medical expenses, demonstrating the outpouring of support from the community.
