Assault: Phoenix Police Seek Public’s Help to Crack Unresolved Violent Sexual Assault Case

PHOENIX — Law enforcement officials are seeking assistance from the community to help solve a brutal sexual assault that occurred last month. The Phoenix Police Department held a press conference on Friday to provide details about the incident, which took place in the early morning hours of August 14.

Officers received a call around 4 a.m. indicating that someone was shouting in an alley near the intersection of 46th and Oak streets, situated between McDowell and Thomas roads. Upon arrival, police followed a trail of blood, leading them to discover a woman who was unconscious, partially undressed, and sustaining severe injuries.

The victim, a woman in her mid-30s, was quickly transported to a local hospital in critical condition. She has since been discharged but continues to recover from her traumatic experience. “The severity of the injuries sustained was significant,” stated Lt. Casey Tornberg of the Phoenix Police Adult Sex Crimes Unit during the press briefing. “We are urging anyone who might have information about this case to come forward.”

Authorities have emphasized the importance of community involvement in gathering information. They reported that any individuals who have details regarding the assault are encouraged to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or for Spanish speakers, at 480-TESTIGO (837-8446). Tips submitted can remain anonymous, and those that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.

In addition to phone calls, the police have established an online portal where community members can upload any relevant videos or photographs relating to the case. “We’re reaching out to the public for any information, videos, or observations that may have seemed out of the ordinary during the nights of August 13 and 14,” Tornberg noted.

Detectives are particularly interested in insights from those who were in the area around the time of the crime. Their aim is to piece together a more comprehensive picture of the events leading up to the assault. This community-centric approach highlights the necessity of collaboration between law enforcement and residents in combating violent crimes.

As investigations continue, police remain hopeful that tips from the public will lead to crucial breakthroughs in the case. Those with information are reminded of their significant role in achieving justice for the victim and the broader community.
