Assault: Man Jailed for Violent Attack on Partner in Wales

LEESWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – A man in Leeswood, Tecwyn Woodward, has been sentenced to 25 months in prison after admitting to assaulting his partner, causing actual bodily harm and intentionally strangling her during an argument over money spent at the shop. The violent incident occurred in November 2022 at their residence in Cwrt Pinwydd.

Woodward’s partner suffered a black eye and a bleeding lip after he threw her to the floor and headbutted her in the face. Following the altercation, she managed to escape their home. She confided in the authorities that this was not the first instance of abuse she had endured during their relationship.

The 55-year-old fugitive was apprehended by the police on New Year’s Day the following year for the assault. At his court appearance at Mold Crown Court, Woodward pled guilty to the charges brought against him.

PC Sarah Pawley, the investigating officer, commended the victim for her bravery in coming forward and cooperating with the investigation. She emphasized the zero-tolerance policy towards domestic violence and assured the public of the police’s commitment to holding perpetrators accountable.

North Wales Police’s initiative, Operation Unite, focuses on combating violence against women and girls in the region. The authorities encourage individuals experiencing domestic abuse or violence to seek help either by contacting the police or seeking assistance from support agencies.

Efforts to address and prevent domestic violence continue to be a priority for law enforcement agencies, underscoring the importance of reporting such incidents and providing support to those affected. The case of Tecwyn Woodward serves as a reminder of the impact of domestic violence on individuals and communities.
