Hatfield, Pennsylvania — A brutal attack on a pregnant woman outside her apartment has led to the arrest of a local man, who faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault of an unborn child. The disturbing incident, captured on surveillance video, took place early Thursday morning in the vicinity of Maple Avenue.
Raymond Bautista, 36, of Allentown, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another individual. Authorities say the attack occurred around 4:30 a.m. when Bautista allegedly approached the victim from behind, striking her multiple times. The video footage, recorded by a nearby resident, shows the assailant dressed in black, executing the attack in mere seconds.
Christopher Stevens, who owns the surveillance system that recorded the incident, described the scene as chaotic. “I was awakened by the sounds of screams,” Stevens recounted. “It all unfolded so quickly—within about 20 seconds, the whole thing was over.” As the assailant fled the scene, neighbors were left shaken by the violence that unfolded just outside their homes.
Police identified Bautista as the suspect shortly after the attack. He was apprehended and arraigned, where bail was set at $75,000 unsecured. His preliminary hearing is slated for May 7, 2025.
