Manipal, India — Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with an alleged assault on Sharath Kundar, the vice-president of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in Udupi. The incident occurred last month during a dispute at a local hotel and escalated at PPC Cross, prompting police intervention.
Udupi City Police acted promptly to identify and apprehend the suspects, who have been named as Akshath Pai, Sushanth, Ramananda Pai, Santosh Koraga, and Shashank Nayak. In addition to the arrests, officers recovered a car and three mobile phones, which are believed to be linked to the criminal activity. The total estimated value of these items is around ₹8 lakh.
