Assault Alert: Two Arrests Made in Edmonton LRT Station Attack, Three Suspects Still at Large

Edmonton, Alberta – After a violent attack on a senior at a downtown LRT station, Edmonton police have made two arrests and issued a warrant for another suspect. Three additional suspects involved in the incident remain unidentified at this time.

The assault took place on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, around 5:30 a.m at the Churchill platform of the Valley Line LRT. According to authorities, a 64-year-old man was waiting for a train when he was approached by a male suspect. A verbal exchange quickly turned physical, with the suspect violently assaulting the senior and robbing him along with five other suspects before fleeing the scene outside city hall. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

Among the identified suspects is Markus Lee Gladue, 21, who is wanted for aggravated assault, possessing a dangerous weapon, and robbery. Brady Rodney Desroches-Smith, 28, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and robbery. Another arrested suspect, Travis Damian Houle, 35, faces charges of aggravated assault, robbery, and failure to comply with a probation order.
