Arrest Made in Philadelphia Mass Shooting Investigation: One Suspect in Custody, Second at Large

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Police have made an arrest in connection with the mass shooting that occurred in Philadelphia’s Kensington section in November 2022, leaving nine people injured.

The shooting took place around 10:42 p.m. near the intersection of Kensington and Allegheny avenues, where multiple shooters fired at least 40 rounds, injuring nine people between the ages of 23 to 40. Five victims were in stable condition, while four others were in critical condition and rushed to the hospital.

According to police, the victims were patrons of businesses on the 800 block of E. Allegheny Avenue and sought cover inside a bar after realizing they had been shot. On Thursday, authorities announced the arrest of Michael Smith-Davis, 25, who is facing charges including Attempted Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, and other related offenses. An arrest warrant has also been issued for a second suspect, a juvenile, who is currently in custody on an unrelated charge.

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is set to hold a news conference on Friday to provide further details on the case.
