Abuse Tragedy: Father Arrested After Admitting to Inflicting Harm on Five-Week-Old Infant

NEWPORT, Ark. — A father has been taken into custody after reportedly confessing to repeatedly abusing his five-week-old infant. The investigation began on August 26 when local authorities received a report concerning potential child abuse.

Lieutenant Mark Harmon of the Newport Police Department confirmed that the infant was airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock for emergency medical treatment. The nature of the child’s injuries raised immediate concerns for investigators.

As they delved deeper into the circumstances surrounding the child’s condition, detectives turned their attention to the father, Ranterious Alexander of West Memphis. During a police interview, Alexander allegedly admitted to various abusive behaviors directed at the child since birth.
