CORDDES LAKES, AZ – Residents of Rodeo Drive in Cordes Lakes are in shock after the tragic murder of their 93-year-old neighbor, Carl Miller.
On Friday night, law enforcement was called to Miller’s house, where they found him lying ‘motionless’ on the floor. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) had been alerted by a concerned individual who had not seen or heard from Miller in a couple of days. Miller’s roommate, 59-year-old Bridget Nelson, initially told deputies that Miller had left town in his truck and she did not know his whereabouts.
It was later discovered that Miller’s truck was parked in the driveway and Nelson’s claims were false. Authorities also noted that the vehicle was not operational, raising suspicion. Nelson was subsequently arrested and is facing a first-degree murder charge. The circumstances surrounding Miller’s death remain unclear, but initial evidence suggests a violent end.
Residents expressed their sadness and disbelief, describing Miller as a friendly and good-hearted person. A neighbor, Joyce Albers, recounted seeing Miller working on his truck just days before the tragic discovery. Meanwhile, another neighbor, Teri Myers, revealed that Nelson had moved in about a month prior and had informed her that Miller had gone to Las Vegas to be with his brother, a claim that Myers found dubious.
