SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A suspicious-vehicle call brought San Antonio police to a Northeast Side restaurant area before dawn Wednesday, where officers found a 59-year-old man dead inside a car.
Police responded around 5:20 a.m. Sept. 23 to the 6300 block of Interstate 35 North, behind the Cracker Barrel near Rittiman Road. When officers reached the vehicle, they found the man unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The discovery left investigators with a central unanswered question: how the man died. Police said their preliminary examination showed no apparent signs of trauma or foul play, and no cause of death had been announced in the initial investigation.
Authorities have released few details about what prompted someone to report the vehicle as suspicious. The available reports do not describe unusual activity involving the car before officers arrived or indicate that police had been called to the location for a violent disturbance.
