16-Year-Old Accused in Deadly Indianapolis Robbery Shooting

Court records tie Richard Williams to two shootings reported one week apart in 2025.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Prosecutors have charged 16-year-old Richard Williams with murder in adult court after an Indianapolis man who was shot during an April 2025 robbery died months later, authorities said.

The murder charge stems from the shooting of 24-year-old Wilson Astreide, who was found wounded April 9, 2025, in the 300 block of North Temple Avenue. Williams also faces robbery, aggravated battery and criminal recklessness charges connected to two shootings that police say occurred one week apart.

Police said Astreide told investigators he had arrived to give a girl a ride when two people approached his vehicle and took his keys. Astreide said he chased after them and was shot before the two people got into his vehicle and left. Officers found him in the middle of the street with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his neck.

Investigators later connected Williams to another shots-fired call at a Phillips 66 gas station near 25th Street and Sherman Drive. Police said surveillance footage from both cases showed Williams wearing a camouflage head covering. Court documents say Williams was known by the nickname “Hell Head” and identify him as a member of Project Babies Thuggin.

Astreide died months after the first shooting at a hospital in Richmond. A coroner ruled the death a homicide caused by complications from the shooting. That ruling became a key step in the adult murder case, giving prosecutors the basis to file a homicide charge tied to the April 9 attack.

Williams had an initial court appearance scheduled for Tuesday morning. The next steps include formal advisement of the charges, bond arguments and the setting of future court dates. Police have not publicly released the names of any other suspects in the robbery and shooting investigation.
