Wounded Driver Slams Into Home After Being Shot Several Times

CYPRESS, Texas — Harris County deputies are investigating after a man who had been shot several times crashed into a home in Cypress early Friday, leaving the house heavily damaged but the people inside unhurt.

The crash happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 19700 block of Mountain Dale Drive, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found the injured driver at the scene, removed him from the vehicle and began CPR before he was taken to a hospital.

Authorities said the driver had multiple gunshot wounds. His name and age were not released, and his condition was not known Saturday. Investigators had not announced any arrests or named a suspect.

The wreck left major damage to the home, according to crews at the scene. A man inside the house said the property was being rented through Airbnb at the time. The people inside reported no injuries.

Deputies were working to determine where the shooting happened and how the wounded driver ended up striking the home. Officials had not said whether the gunfire happened before the driver reached Mountain Dale Drive or near the crash site.

The case remained under investigation Saturday. Deputies had not released a motive, a vehicle description for any suspect or details about whether shell casings or surveillance video had been found.
