The homicide investigation followed a reported altercation between two men.
KENOSHA, Wis. — A homicide investigation is underway after Kenosha police found 37-year-old Stephanie Birn dead inside a home Saturday while responding to a reported fight near 13th Avenue and 57th Street.
Police said officers were called about 3:30 p.m. April 25 after a caller told 911 that a person appeared seriously injured and was lying on the ground. When officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old Kenosha man with serious injuries and began first aid before fire department crews arrived.
Investigators said officers also found 42-year-old Dale Dallia, of Kenosha, trying to leave the area. He was detained without incident. Police later received information that another victim might be inside a home, where officers found Birn dead.
The Kenosha Police Department said detectives and officers were still gathering evidence, speaking with witnesses and checking the area. Officials had not released details on how Birn died or what role the injured man may have had in the events before police arrived.
Friends described Birn as caring and devoted to the people around her. “I couldn’t imagine this happening to Stephanie,” Karyn Pedraza said. “It never should have happened. There was no reason this should have happened.”
Dallia remained on a probation hold while detectives worked with the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office on potential charges. The investigation remained active, and police said the case was still unfolding.
