Washington Woman Arrested in Connection with Death of Missing 4-Year-Old Son

Everett, Washington – A tragic incident unfolded in Everett, Washington, resulting in the arrest of a 27-year-old woman, Janet Garcia, in connection with the death of her missing 4-year-old son, Ariel Garcia. The young boy’s body was discovered by authorities along an interstate highway in Pierce County, Washington, following an extensive search involving over 100 officers, agents, and investigators, including the FBI.

Garcia is facing serious charges including murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree, and assault of a child in the first degree as confirmed by the Everett Police Department. The investigation began after a relative reported Ariel missing on Wednesday, leading to Janet becoming a “person of interest” in the case shortly thereafter.

Prior to her arrest on Friday, Janet had been taken into custody by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly providing false and misleading information to law enforcement officials. She was later booked into Snohomish County Jail in connection with the charges related to her son’s death.

Police were alerted to the presence of a body, now identified as Ariel Garcia, along Interstate 5 in Pierce County on Thursday evening. Despite the hopes for a different outcome, Everett Chief of Police John DeRousse expressed condolences to Ariel’s loved ones in a statement regarding the tragic turn of events.
