Warning: Graphic Content – Man Savagely Slashed and Beaten in Melbourne’s West in Broad Daylight

Melbourne, Australia – A brutal attack on a 21-year-old man in Melbourne’s west left him seriously injured after being slashed and beaten with multiple weapons, including a machete and a hammer. Chol Yai was set upon by a group of about four men around 5pm on Sunday and was chased across Elpis Rd, Weir Views before the attack took place in a garden outside a McDonald’s outlet.

The disturbing incident was captured on CCTV as the group of men chased the young man, prompting horrified reactions from nearby neighbors. One witness can be heard saying, “They’ve stabbed him in the back,” while another urged someone to call the police.

The attack left Yai with severe injuries, including slashes from a machete, knives, a hammer, and a baseball bat, with his right arm cut down to the bone. The residents who witnessed the attack rushed to his aid, providing first aid to the injured man.

Yai was quickly rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he underwent surgery on his arm and remains in serious condition. His mother Teresa Garang expressed her distress, stating that her son had been out shopping for food when he was attacked and has no idea why he was targeted.

Police are actively investigating the incident, but the victim has chosen not to cooperate. The offenders, who were seen traveling in a black sedan, have not been found, and no arrests have been made at this time. Victoria Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

The vicious attack has left the community shocked and concerned as they hope for Yai’s recovery and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
