Walmart Shooting Tragedy Leaves 19-Year-Old Dead, 9-Year-Old Injured in Fayette County

Fayetteville, Georgia – A tragic incident unfolded on Friday night at a Walmart store in Fayette County, Georgia, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man and the injury of a 9-year-old girl due to a shooting. The incident occurred in the entryway of the Walmart on Pavillion Parkway around 10 p.m., according to the Fayette Police Department.

The authorities identified the shooter as Adrian Jelks, 19, who was also an employee of Walmart. The young girl and the man, Antavius Holton, were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Holton succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the young girl is reported to be in stable condition.

City of Fayetteville Public Safety stated on their social media platforms that the shooting was not a random act or an active shooter situation. Authorities suspect that Jelks fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later found abandoned. A manhunt is currently underway to locate Jelks for further investigation.

While the search for Jelks continues, Sandra Romero-Nunez, 19, was arrested on pending warrants for being an accomplice to the crimes of murder and aggravated assault. Authorities have not yet determined Romero-Nunez’s specific involvement in the shooting incident.
