Walmart Shooting Leaves Teen Dead, 9-Year-Old Injured: Police Search for Suspect

FAYETTEVILLE, Georgia – A tragic event unfolded in a Walmart in Fayetteville, Georgia, as a 19-year-old man lost his life and a 9-year-old girl sustained injuries in a shooting incident on Friday night.

According to reports from local authorities, the shooting took place around 10 p.m. within the store’s entryway on Pavillion Parkway. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, they discovered Antavius Holton, 19, and the young girl, both with gunshot wounds.

The alleged shooter, identified as Adrian Jelks, 19, was disclosed to be an employee of Walmart. The authorities mentioned that the incident did not appear to be a random act or an active-shooter situation.

Following the shooting, Holton and the injured girl were promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Holton succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the 9-year-old girl is reported to be in stable condition.

City of Fayetteville Public Safety officials clarified that they do not believe the shooting incident was random. They also revealed that Jelks reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later found abandoned.

On the following day, authorities continued their search for Jelks, as they detained Sandra Romero-Nunez, 19, on pending warrants for her alleged involvement in the tragic event. Her connection to the shooting remains unclear as the investigation progresses.
