Tokoroa, New Zealand – A violent robbery in Tokoroa last week left one person moderately injured after being assaulted and having a piece of their clothing stolen. The incident, which took place on June 28 around 1pm, involved a small group of individuals who carried out the attack in broad daylight.
Detective Neale Saunders described the robbery as a “violent attack” that would have been distressing for the community and witnesses. The offenders fled the scene in a white Ford Courier ute, nearly causing a collision with another vehicle at an intersection in the area.
Authorities have expressed confidence in identifying the perpetrators and are actively working to locate and apprehend them. Saunders mentioned that police believe the incident may be gang-related, although they do not see an ongoing risk to the wider community.
Over the long weekend, a significant number of individuals were present in the area where the robbery occurred. Police are urging anyone with information or potentially relevant CCTV or video footage to come forward and assist in the investigation.
