Two Children Among Four Dead in Shocking West Bend Case

A girl survived the incident and was hospitalized in stable condition as investigators worked to determine what led to the deaths.

WEST BEND, Wis. — West Bend police are investigating the deaths of four people, including two children, as a suspected domestic violence incident after officers found them inside an East Washington Street home Saturday and another girl survived.

Officers were sent to the residence in the 100 block of East Washington Street shortly before noon after a 911 call reported multiple dead people inside. Police said officers found an adult woman, an adult man, a boy and a girl dead. Another girl was taken from the home to a hospital and was later reported in stable condition.

Investigators believe the person responsible was also among those found dead, according to police. Authorities said the people in the residence were connected to one another, but they have not publicly described their specific relationships or identified which of the deceased people they believe was responsible.

Police recovered a firearm inside the residence that they believe was involved in the incident. A dog was also found dead. Authorities have not released the names or ages of the four people who died and have not provided a detailed account of how the violence unfolded.

Police described the case Saturday night as related to domestic violence. Investigators have not disclosed what may have preceded the deaths, and no specific motive has been announced. Authorities have also not said who made the initial 911 call.

The surviving girl’s identity has not been released. Police have said only that she was inside the home and was taken for medical treatment. Her reported stable condition made her the only known survivor among the people found at the residence.

Officers spent much of Saturday working at the property. Earlier in the response, police asked pedestrians to avoid the area so investigators could safely manage the scene, although Washington Street remained open to vehicles.

Police said there was no known ongoing threat to the public. The department’s assessment, combined with its belief that the suspected person responsible was among the dead, indicated that officers were not publicly searching for an at-large suspect Saturday night.

Investigators still have several major questions to resolve, including the exact sequence of events, the relationships among those involved and what led to the violence. Police have not announced when further findings or the identities of the people who died will be released.

The investigation remained active Sunday, with authorities withholding additional details while the circumstances of the deaths were examined.
