Transgender Woman Allegedly Guns Down Parents in Utah Home, Cornered After Manhunt

Washington City, Utah – A transgender woman is in custody after allegedly gunning down her parents inside their Utah home. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Mia Bailey, was apprehended following an extensive manhunt that lasted several hours. Police had issued a warning that she was considered armed and dangerous prior to her capture.

The incident unfolded when gunfire erupted at a residence in Washington, a town located in southwest Utah near the Arizona border. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the bodies of a woman and a man with gunshot wounds in the living room. The victims were later identified as Joseph and Gail Bailey, ages 70 and 69, with records showing that they shared the home with Mia Bailey.

After the shooting, Bailey fled the scene in a yellow Kia Soul, sparking a manhunt to locate her. The pursuit concluded when she was found in a St. George neighborhood, approximately 7 miles away from the crime scene. Video footage captured the moment when Bailey peacefully surrendered to a group of armed officers, relinquishing her firearm before being taken into custody.

It remains unclear what prompted the violent act and the relationship between the suspect and her victims. Despite the lack of a clear motive, family members took to social media to confirm the tragic events, with Gail’s brother expressing disbelief and sorrow over the loss of his sister and brother-in-law at the hands of their own child.

Police officials have not provided further details regarding the case, including any possible motives or circumstances leading up to the shooting. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to uncover more information surrounding the tragic event.
