Tragic Shooting in Burnsville Leaves 2 Officers and a Firefighter Dead

Burnsville, Minnesota – Two police officers and a firefighter were tragically killed in response to a call for help from a family in danger, according to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The officers have been identified as Paul Elmstrand, 27, and Matthew Ruge, 27, and the firefighter as Adam Finseth, 40. Another officer, Adam Medlicott, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. These brave individuals were responding to a report of an armed man barricaded inside a residence with family members.

The suspect was reportedly found dead at around 8 a.m., and the other family members were able to leave the home safely. The Burnsville city statement assured that there is no ongoing threat. However, officials announced a press conference for Sunday afternoon to address the tragic incident.
