Tragic School Bus Crash Leaves Two Dead and Many Injured in Bastrop County – Fatalities Reported in Bus Rollover Incident

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas – A tragic school bus crash in Bastrop County has resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries, according to emergency officials. The incident occurred in the afternoon on Friday on 2751 W. SH 21, near Caldwell Road. At least 50 individuals were involved in the rollover crash, with reports of at least two deaths, including a child. The exact number of injuries has not been disclosed at this time.

The crash involved a Hays Consolidated Independent School District bus carrying Tom Green Elementary preschool students, which collided with a concrete truck near Mustang Ridge. Emergency responders, including Travis County STARflight helicopters, arrived at the scene to transport the injured. Additional patients were taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center for treatment.

In a statement from Hays CISD, it was revealed that the students were returning from a field trip to the Bastrop Zoo when the tragic accident occurred. A total of 44 students and 11 adults were on the bus during the crash. The district is currently coordinating efforts to reunite students with their parents.
